the song honestly isn't for me, it is very long and while i agree with you that the range in her vocal color is interesting here, the song lyrically and melodically didn't do it for me. until that last twenty or so seconds where post malone got to shine. if the song was more of that or more of a collaboration i probably would have liked it a lot more. i mostly just find it forgettable next to songs like down bad, which would have been my choice for the single personally

I definitely think Rihanna has improved a lot as a singer. For a while there, I personally found some of her live performances unenjoyable and a bit hard to listen to, especially when she’d run into intonation problems (and not just for a note or two, but longer). I think time away from the spotlight has allowed her to hone her instrument. This was a great performance!
